PASSENGERS on board a flight forced into an emergency landing after a piece of the cover of its engine came off mid-flight have been sharing footage online.
The incident occurred around 35 minutes before the Boeing 777 plane, with 363 passengers and 10 crew on board, was due to land.
"Scariest flight of my life" was how one passenger described the ordeal after the plane landed safely in Hawaii.
The United Airlines plane was en route from San Francisco to Honolulu when the cover of its right engine came off mid-flight.
Passenger Erik Haddad, who is an engineer with Google, shared video footage on social media of the engine shaking in the air.
The plane, which had been flying over the Pacific Ocean, landed safely at around 12.40pm local time.
