Last minute ticket to the Oscars for Moone Boy star

WHILE there are no Academy Awards coming back to Irish shores this year, one young actor managed to get a ticket to the star-studded awards show at the eleventh hour.

14-year-old David Rawle, best known in Britain for his role on Sky’s Moone Boy, flew out to Los Angeles last week in the hope of attending the 87th Oscars ceremony and managed to get in with a last minute ticket.

David provided the voice of the protagonist in the critically acclaimed Irish animation Song of the Sea. The film gained a nomination for best animated feature at the Oscars last night, but lost out to Big Hero 6.

The Cartoon Saloon produced animation was one of two Irish hopefuls on the night – the other being Boogaloo and Graham, which was nominated for best live action short.

Cartoon Saloon producer Paul Young managed to track down a ticket for the young actor at the last minute.

Later Rawle tweeted pictures of the team from the limousine en route to the awards in LA.
