AN ELDERLY WOMAN has died following a fire in Leinster.
In the area of Abbeylara in County Longford, a woman in her 80s has passed away.
According to RTÉ, the woman was 83 years old before her untimely death.
An Garda Síochána from Granard were alerted to the fire at 7 pm on Saturday evening.
After stopping the blaze, the body of the woman was found inside her house.
The body of the deceased has been moved to Mullingar Hospital awaiting a post-mortem.
The scene of the fire has been sealed off pending a forensic investigation.
