BELIEVE it or not – but new figures show that Ireland has the quietest neighbours of any country in the European Union.
Just 7.9 percent of Ireland's population reported being disturbed by noise from neighbours or the street last ear, according to Eurostat.
That's compared to 17 percent of UK residents and no less than a quarter (25.1%) of people living in Germany.
Malta topped the list at 26.2 percent, with Ireland sitting pretty far below the EU average of 17.9 percent for noise complaints.
But does Ireland really have a lack of noisy neighbours, or could it be something else?
According to EuroNews, Ireland's lack of complaints could be down to the Emerald Isle's relatively sparse population.
At only 65 people per km sq, the chance of noisy neighbours ruining a good night's sleep is less in Ireland than in the majority of the EU's 28 member states.
The data is based on survey answers and therefore reflects peoples' perceptions of how noisy their neighbourhoods are, not the actual level of noise in each area.
Cultural attitudes regarding the making of complaints and behaviour that is considered "noisy" may also have contributed.
But, you know, it might just be because we're a great bunch of lads.
Just above Ireland were Croatia (8.5 percent), Bulgaria (10 percent) and Estonia (10.4 percent).
Unsurprisingly, people living in cities (23.3 percent) reported over double the amount of noise disturbance from the street or neighbours than those in rural areas (10.4 percent).
