Oasis co-founder and former drummer Tony McCarroll suffers heart attack

FORMER Oasis drummer Tony McCarroll has revealed he was admitted to hospital last week after suffering a heart attack.

McCarroll, 50, one of the founding members of the group, added that he was 'not quite out of the woods' just yet.

Meanwhile Liam Gallagher offered his support to his former band mate and fellow second-generation Irishman.

McCarroll (second left, above) revealed the news of his illness on Twitter, adding his thanks to the NHS for his care.

"Hi all. Wanted to let you know I was admitted to hospital on Thursday after suffering a heart attack on Wednesday night," he wrote.

"I'm not quite out of the woods as yet but just want to give a massive big up to our #NHS We are more than fortunate to have such a service! Thank you!! X"

Gallagher offered his support to his former band mate, who was drummer on Oasis' debut album, Definitely Maybe.

Taking to Twitter, he wrote: "Tony it’s LG hope your ok stay cool sending you love [sic]."

McCarroll co-founded the band that would become Oasis in 1991 as The Rain, with Paul McGuigan, Paul Arthurs and Chris Hutton.

The latter was soon replaced by Gallagher, who suggested the band change their name to Oasis, before older brother Noel joined.

After being ousted in 1995, McCarroll sued the band, but relations appear to have thawed in recent years.
