5 males and 2 females have been arrested in suspicion with the drugs seized on June 20.

Gardaí from Roscommon/Longford Division assisted by the Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau and the Armed Support Unit carried out a number of searches in Longford area as part of an operation targeting the supply of controlled drugs in the early hours of this morning.

The suspects arrested are said to be aged between the ages of 18 to 55.

They have been detained at Garda Stations in Roscommon and Longford pursuant to Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

Drugs seized in the raid were reported to be cannabis, cocaine and heroin and three cars were seized as part of the search operation.

Longford Garda Station Superintendent James Delaney at Longford Garda Station said the operation involved 50 Gardaí: "This morning’s operation, involving over 50 Gardaí, focused on the disruption of criminal gangs and their activities in the distribution of controlled drugs in the greater Longford area.

"This type of operation is dependent on highly specialised Gardaí attached to the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau supported by local Gardaí from the Divisional Drugs Unit," he added.
