A highly-anticipated documentary on the relationship between the State and Irish women is on television tonight.
The brand new documentary will air on RTÉ tonight and again tomorrow night.
Described as a “landmark documentary”, No Country for Women is a two-part programme created by Anne Roper which gives an account of the difficult relationship between Irish women and the State over the last 100 years, from restricting their ability to work to blocking access to fertility control.
Irish women gained the right to vote a century ago back in 1918, and the documentary questions why it took so long for one-half of the country's voices to be heard.
