EARLIER THIS week, RTÉ announced that this week's episode of The Late Late Show would include a live performance of Fairytale of New York.
The announcement that the show would be a special episode in tribute to Shane MacGown and The Pogues already had people looking forward to the show, but now new details have been released, and we're more buzzing than ever.
If you don't have plans tonight, it's definitely worth staying in to watch-- here's what's in store:
MacGowan will not just perform a special rendition of Fairytale of New York with a host of Irish stars, but will in fact perform a whole range of The Pogues' hits.
The singer-songwriter will be joined on stage by Glen Hansard and Lisa O'Neill for a rendition of The Pogues' 1986 hit Rainy Night in Soho.
A range of guests from Ireland's entertainment and music industry will appear on the show to pay tribute to MacGowan, discussing the impact both he and the band have had on the Irish music industry as a whole.
Aiden Gillen, Patrick Bergin, Moya Brennan, Philomena Begley and Pat McCabe are among some of the guests set to join Shane, his wife Victoria Mary Clarke and presenter Ryan Tubridy on the show to pay tribute to the Dubliner.
If that wasn't enough excitement, popular Irish comedian Pat Shortt will also make an appearance-- in character-- to promote his new show.
We might just cancel those plans after all...
