Murder arrests after woman, 22, fell to her death from 46-storey London tower block

TWO people have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman was found dead at a 36-storey tower block in London.

Bethany-Maria Beales, 22, was discovered outside the City of London's Heron Tower (110 Bishopsgate) shortly after 1pm on Saturday, May 26.

It is believed that she fell 13 storeys from the building's 19th floor and landed on a communal terrace on the sixth floor.

The musical theatre actress was found with "significant injuries" and died at the scene.

City of London Police have confirmed that Ms Beales' injuries were "consistent with a fall from a height".

A man and a woman, both 38, arrested on suspicion of murder have been bailed.

Killings are extremely rare in the Square Mile and this is the first murder investigation that the CLP has launched in three years.

'Shining star'

In a statement, Ms Beales' family described her as a "shining star" with "the most beautiful singing voice".

They said: "She was more than a daughter, granddaughter, niece, cousin, stepsister, step-auntie, god-daughter or friend. She was the world to us all.

"She was our songbird. She had an amazing talent that, if it had been seen by the world, would have become known to millions.

"To say we will miss her does not come close to describing how we feel. Our world will never be as bright again now that our shining star has gone."

DCI Edelle Michaels appealed for witnesses to come forward.

She said: "We would like to extend our thoughts and condolences to Bethany's family and friends at this difficult time and reassure them we are doing everything we can to determine the circumstances of this tragic incident.

"Anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or may have information which can assist our investigation is asked to contact police as soon as possible.

"We are particularly keen to speak to anyone who was in the Heron building, or the vicinity, on Saturday that may have seen or heard something."

Anyone with information is urged to call police on 0207 601 2222 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
