Mum, 55, who showers every morning with her daughter, 19, claims it’s 'the best way to start the day'

A DOTING mother-of-one has revealed how she likes to start her day by taking a shower with her daughter - who just so happens to be 19-years-old.

Mary, 55, from Jensen Beach, Florida in the US first began accompanying her beloved Brittani for a morning rinse when she was five and needed help washing her hair and body.

She’s been doing it ever since.

Not that Brittani minds all that much – in fact, she feels “comforted” by the presence of her mum in the shower alongside her.

Mary and Brittani’s unique bond is the subject of the reality TV series sMothered which airs on TLC network.

On the show, Mary defends her no-boundaries approach to parenting, claiming a shared shower is the "“best way” to start the day.

“I love her and I don’t see anything wrong with it,” Mary says.

“I have been taking showers and helping Brittani since she was five.”

“I’m just a doting mum! I don't believe I set out to have a relationship this close to Brittani, it's something that was supposed to be.”

Brittani, meanwhile, is happy to be the centre of attention and doesn’t see their closeness as anything unusual.

“It’s something of a spiritual connection,” Brittani explains.

"When my mom does simple things like washing my hair or my body, it makes me feel comforted."

Things don’t look like changing for the pair any time soon either, despite the presence of Mary’s long-suffering boyfriend and the fact Brittani is gaining more independence with a career as a trainee police officer.

Brittani explained: “I’m only 19, I haven't moved away.

"If that was the case [and she did move], she [Mary] would probably die from separation anxiety.”
