A MOTORIST in County Longford was arrested over the weekend after being caught with an open can of beer in his car.
An Garda Síochána shared shocking images from inside the vehicle.
They show an open can of Carlsberg, sat in the car’s middle console, with a further three unopened cans visible on the front passenger seat.
It’s a stark reminder of the disregard some still have for drink driving laws in Ireland.
The discovery was made by Longford RPU, who got more than they bargained for when stopping the unnamed driver.
Not only did they find an open alcohol container at the scene, but it soon became apparent that the motorist was driving without insurance, NCT or tax.

The discovery comes just days after a man in his 70s and a woman in her 30s died in a horrific two-car crash in north Dublin.
The tragic incident occurred shortly after 6am on the Drumcondra Road Lower at Hollybank Road junction.
The drivers were sole occupants of the two vehicles involved in the collision.
