SOUTHWARK pensioners received a surprise visit from one of Ireland’s best known stars when Michael Flatley popped in to their recent gathering.
The Lord of the Dance took the opportunity to pop in and say 'hi' as the busy Southwark Irish Pensioners group came together for lunch recently, on Thursday 21 November.
The dance superstar and global entrepreneur joined Irish Ambassador Dan Mulhall on the visit, which was organised by the Ireland Fund of Great Britain.
IFGB CEO Sheila Bailey brought the special guests along with IFGB supporters Bernard McEvoy and Gerald Byrne.
Bernard and Gerald took part in the recent Lands End to John O’Groats cycle ride in aid of the IFGB’s Forgotten Irish campaign.
During lunch they officially handed over a cheque for £25,000 to the IFGB’s Forgotten Irish campaign.
The campaign supports a number of good causes among the Irish community across Britain, including activities at the Southwark Irish Pensioners Project.
