SCREEN legend Maureen O’Hara has sold her long time Co. Cork home - Lugdine Park estate.
The unidentified buyers are from Britain with local connections to the Co. Cork area.
Roseanne De Vere Hunt of Sherry FitzGerald Country Homes, Farms and Estates with Ray O’Neill of Sherry FitzGerald O’Neill in Skibbereen were responsible for the sale of the estate, which had an asking price of €1,850,000.
The very substantial property has sea frontage, two private islands and 35 acres of lush land and estate. The house itself is a five bedroom mansion.
There’s also a guest cottage and outdoor changing rooms for those wanting a dip in the sea.
The 95-year-old has decided to move to Idaho, where she’ll live with her daughter Bronwyn.
The Dublin actress said of her Co. Cork home: "I have so many happy memories of Lugdine Park. I will cherish them my whole life and so with a smile I pass the home on to a lucky family who will love her as much as I do.
“They have the most wonderful neighbours a person can hope for in Glengarriff. I have known them for so long and we love each other as old friends.
“I can never fully express my gratitude for their kindness and the special place each of them holds in my heart.
“It’s a lovely village filled with wonderful people who are so proud of this magical piece of heaven."
