THE DISAPPEARANCE of a young woman in County Wicklow prompted a Garda investigation and has since claimed the life of a man wanted in connection with the incident.
The man, being pursued by Gardaí investigating the disappearance of 24-year-old Justine Valdez, was shot dead at the Cherrywood Industrial Estate near Bray in County Dublin.
Earlier it was reported that Valdez was in the car of the armed man who was shot, and that she received medical treatment at the scene.
This was not the case, and the search continues for the 24-year-old.
The IT Carlow student has been missing since Saturday afternoon and to add to the case, Gardaí received a report of a woman being bundled into a car at 6.15 pm on a road out of Enniskerry village from a motorist driving by.
Archdeacon of the Church of Ireland Ricky Rountree, whose St. Patrick's church is located near to the crime scene, said people in the local vicinity were "traumatised" from the incident and "worried in terms of their own...
"I think it will probably make people careful with their young people and their children."
