Man to stand trial in UK today accused of causing death of Irishman by dangerous driving

A MAN accused of causing the death of an Irishman in the UK earlier this year will stand trial today.

38-year-old Carl Lawrence is alleged to have killed Irish musician William Corrigan in Nedwood Road in the town of Bedford on Wednesday 28 February this year.

He is also accused of failing to stop at the scene, driving without insurance and driving without a licence, and was remanded to appear at a later date.

Corrigan, originally from Birr, Co Offaly, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A gifted banjo player, he was married with children and had been living in England for several years.

Following his death, the family paid tribute saying: “William Joseph was a loving husband, dad, son and brother. He loved his music and was a gifted banjo player. He was hugely popular in the local area and will by sadly missed by all who knew him.”
