A MAN has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after being shot close to a Dublin garda station.
The incident occurred at around 11.30am on Friday in an underground car park that services the Hilton Hotel on the South Circular Road in Kilmainham, Dublin 8.
The location is less than 300m from Kilamainham Garda Station and less than 200m from Kilmainham Gaol, a popular tourist attraction.
The Irish Times reports that it is the third shooting attack on the 41-year-old victim in the last two years.
It adds that the incident is believed to be linked to a feud involving criminals from the Ballyfermot area.
A technical examination was carried out at the scene and an incident room has been established at Kilmainham Garda Station.
Investigations are ongoing, although no arrests have yet been made.
Gardaí have appealed for any witnesses to this incident to come forward.
They particularly want to hear from any road users who may have camera footage and were travelling on the South Circular Road in the Kilmainham area at the time of the incident.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Kilmainham Garda Station on 01 666 9700, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
