TRIBUTES HAVE been paid as the child who was found dead in Limerick on Sunday is named locally as Brooklyn Colbert.
The 11-year-old boy was found in a house in the Ballynanty area of the city with injuries consistent with assault.
Emergency services were called but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
A man in his 20s was arrested in connection with Brooklyn's death after presenting himself to gardaí and remains in custody at Henry Street Garda Station.
Now the people of Limerick, particularly the sports teams which Brooklyn and his father were involved in, are offering their condolences to his family.
Pike Rovers FC offered their thoughts and prayers upon hearing of the death of one of their former players.

And Ballynanty Rovers spoke of their 'profound sadness' at his tragic death.

A post-mortem examination was conducted at University Hospital Limerick yesterday but the details are not being released by gardaí.
Gardaí have appealed for anyone who may have information on the death of Brooklyn Colbert to come forward.
They said:
"Any person who was in the vicinity of Shanabooley Road, Ballynanty or in the Moyross area between 4pm and 7pm [on Sunday, 3rd November] and who saw anything suspicious, and any person who may have information in relation to this investigation is asked to contact the incident room at Mayorstone Park Garda Station on 061 456 989, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station."
