Man extradited from Northern Ireland to Lithuania to stand trial for child sexual offence

A MAN has been extradited from Northern Ireland to Lithuania as part of an investigation into a child sexual offence.

The 31-year-old was extradited today by officers from the PSNI's International Policing Unit (IPU), working in partnership with Lithuanian police officers.

The man is wanted to stand trial in Lithuania for the rape of a minor.

A spokesperson for the PSNI said the operation showed there was 'nowhere to hide' for those trying to evade justice by fleeing to Northern Ireland.

"The Police service of Northern Ireland continues to work with our international partners to bring offenders before the courts and return fugitives from justice," said Sergeant Davey of the IPU.

"Our message is clear: there is nowhere to hide in Northern Ireland, as we will pursue all wanted persons believed to be in this jurisdiction."
