Man dies after late-night shooting in the Irish capital

A MAN has died after being shot a number of times in the Irish capital.

The 28-year-old, believed to be a fitness instructor, was shot while sitting in a car in the Tallaght area, RTÉ reports.

The man managed to get out of the car but was shot again in the head as he tried to escape.

Emergency services were called to the scene near Citywest on Fortunestown Lane at around 9.20pm.

The man received medical assistance but was pronounced dead the scene, which has been preserved for forensics.

A post-mortem examination will be carried out.
