A MAN in his 40s has died in hospital after suffering serious injuries in an assault in Dublin.
The man was left with serious head injuries following the attack, which occurred at Seville Place, Dublin 1 on September 2.
He was taken by ambulance to the nearby Mater Hospital.
However, despite the best efforts of staff there, he was pronounced dead early this past Saturday, September 12.
His body has now been transferred to Dublin City Morgue.
A post-mortem examination was carried out by Dr Heidi Okkers, from Office of the State Pathologist, with the preliminary results passed on to Gardaí.
At this point, no further details can be released to the public.
So far, no arrests have been made in the case.
However, Gardaí are following a definite line of inquiry. Related to the assault.
An investigation into the attack and the circumstances surrounding it is ongoing.
In the meantime, Gardaí have renewed their previous appeal for information.
They are calling on anyone who may have witnessed this incident to come forward.
Gardaí are urging any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) from the area at the time to make themselves known.
