A BODY has been recovered from the base of the Cliffs of mother in Co. Clare after a young man reportedly fell from the top.
An alarm was raised at around 4pm on Monday and emergency services rushed to the scene.
Ambulance crews, fire and rescue services the coastguard and a helicopter were all scrambled in response to the incident.
It was quickly established that a young man was seen falling from the cliff at Aill Na Searrach close to O'Brien's Tower.
It's understood that the man was from Co. Mayo and had been missing for some time.
Doolin Coast Guard launched a rescue boat and arrived at the base of the cliff shortly after the alarm was raised.
A risk assessment was taken at the scene, and it was deemed to too dangerous to attempt a recovery of the body. Instead, search teams waited until Tuesday, when conditions were a little calmer.
At around 3.30pm, at low time, the young man's body was recovered, and was taken to University Hospital Limerick where a post mortem examination will be carried out.
