A MAN who claimed he crashed his car after swerving to avoid an octopus in the road was arrested on suspicion of drug driving.
Emergency services responded to a report of a single-vehicle collision in Kingsbridge, Devon, England on Tuesday evening.
The incident occurred on the A381 near Malborough, around three miles from the sea.
Emergency services are currently dealing with a single vehicle RTC on the A381 by the South Milton turn where a car has overturned.

Reporting the incident on social media, Kingsbridge Police wrote: “The driver stated he swerved to avoid an octopus. He is currently in custody on suspicion of drug driving.”
The car was discovered overturned in a ditch by the side of the road, however the driver did not require hospital treatment.
Police could find no sign of the alleged octopus.
Devon & Cornwall Police confirmed a 49-year-old man from Salcombe, Devon was arrested on suspicion of driving whilst unfit through drugs/drink.
He has been released under investigation pending further enquiries.
Needless to say, the original tweet from police drew some ‘kraken’ responses…
