A MAN being sought in connection with a burglary, during which an intruder died in an altercation with the elderly homeowner, has been arrested.
The Metropolitan Police had appealed for information regarding Billy Jeeves in connection with the aggravated burglary in Hither Green, Lewisham on April 4.
They have confirmed tonight that he has been arrested and is currently being held at a Kent police station.
In a statement, the Met said: “Billy Jeeves, aged 28, was located and detained in north Kent at approximately 1730hrs on Friday, April 20 by officers from the Met's Homicide and Major Crime Command, with support from officers from the Territorial Support Group and officers at Kent police.
“He has been arrested on suspicion of two counts of burglary, theft and possession of a controlled substance.”
During the burglary earlier this month, Henry Vincent, 37, lost his life after being stabbed with his own screwdriver while scuffling with homeowner Richard Osborn-Brooks.
Mr Vincent, who later died in hospital, had an accomplice who dragged him towards a van before leaving him.
Mr Osborn-Brooks, 78, was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and further arrested on suspicion of murder.
However he was later released and the Met confirmed no further action would be taken against the pensioner.
