A MAN has been arrested after he rammed a car into the gates of the British embassy in Dublin.
The man was detained at the scene on Merrion Road after the incident, which occurred at around 9pm on Saturday.
Nobody was injured and only minor damage was caused.
According to Dublin Live, the arrested man is a dissident republican.
A garda spokesman said: “Gardaí in Donnybrook are investigating an incident where a car crashed into the gates of a premises on the Merrion Road at approximately 9pm on June 9, 2018.
“It caused minor damage to the gates. A man in his 30s was arrested for road traffic offences and is currently in Donnybrook Garda station.”
The incident comes as authorities prepare for the visit of Prince Charles and his wife Camilla to Ireland this week.
The couple are due to arrive in Cork on Thursday, June 14 for a two-day trip that will see them visit various locations around Cork and Kerry.
