A 38-YEAR-OLD MAN is fighting for his life in hospital after a scrambler motorbike fell on his head while he was sunbathing in a Dublin park.
The incident occurred at Darndale Park in north Dublin shortly before 2pm on Saturday afternoon
Witnesses said the scrambler was being ridden by a man over the crest of a hill when it became airborne and lost control.
The motorbike then struck the injured man's head as he sunbathed on the grass.
He remains in a serious condition in Beaumont Hospital today.
Gardaí are interviewing a number of witnesses to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident. No arrests have been made.
In a statement, a Garda spokesman said: "Gardaí in Coolock are investigating an incident that occurred at Darndale Park at approximately 1.50pm on 9 June 2018.
"It is believed a male (38 years) was sunbathing in Darndale Park, when a he was struck by a scrambler type m/bike. He was struck on the head and is in a serious condition at Beaumont hospital.
"Gardaí are currently interviewing a number of witnesses to establish how the incident occurred."
