WHILE Trafalgar Square turned into a sea of green on Sunday for London’s St Patrick’s Day celebrations, the city’s underground did so too.
Several tube stations, including Tottenham Court Road, hosted live performances from musicians and dancers celebrating Ireland’s cultural heritage and the country’s links with London.
The event – organised by the Irish Embassy in London and Transport for London (TFL) – welcomed community groups such as the London Irish Pensioners Choir and the London Irish Music School, who entertained passers by and tourists.
On Monday morning a special exhibition was also be held at Moorgate Station to commemorate the contribution of Irish construction workers to the development of the Underground and London’s rail networks.
