The Lighthouse Club construction industry charity named as charity partner for The Irish Post Awards 2016

THE Lighthouse Club construction industry charity has been chosen as the event charity partner for The Irish Post Awards 2016.

The Irish Post is already partnered with the charity for their 60th anniversary year to support their fundraising efforts across Britain this year.

The Lighthouse Club will benefit from the proceeds of the charity raffle on the evening as well as an opportunity to promote its fundraising efforts to one thousand guests attending the London ceremony on Friday, November 25 in the Great Room at the Grosvenor House on Park Lane.

The Lighthouse construction industry charity has been providing emergency help to the construction community since 1956 - providing financial assistance, welfare and legal support in times of hardship and stress.

It also promotes campaigns aimed at avoiding accidents and improving safety on construction sites as well as supporting educational initiatives aimed at improving employment conditions and career opportunities within the construction industry.

Bill Hill, CEO of The Lighthouse Club, said: “Our charity receives no public funding and we rely totally on the generosity of the construction community to deliver our charitable services to the industry.

"The Irish influence is both strategic and significant in construction and we are delighted that The Irish Post have chosen our charity to benefit from the 2016 Awards.”

Sarah Murphy, Commercial Manager of The Irish Post, added: “The narrative of the Irish emigrant experience in Britain is intrinsically interlinked with the construction sector and the Irish contribution to the industry needs to be continually championed and supported during times of hardship.

"The Irish Post, serving as the voice of that same Irish community for almost 50 years, is delighted to be able to give something back by supporting The Lighthouse Club and naming them our charity partner for The Irish Post Awards 2016.”

The Lighthouse Club receives no public finance and relies on the support from within the industry and its nationwide network of 21 independent, volunteer-managed Regional Lighthouse Clubs to fund its charitable work.

It has now distributed over £15million to over 14,500 construction workers and their families.
