LEO VARADKAR has provided a 'detailed statement' to Gardaí in relation to a smoothie which was thrown at him during an interview.
In September of this year, the Tánaiste was speaking in front of cameras in Dublin city's Merrion Square park when a woman approached him.
The woman, who was holding a skateboard and had a mask covering her face, threw a drink-- later identified as a smoothie-- in his face before running away.
Gardaí confirmed they were investigating the incident at the time, but the culprit has yet to be found.
At the time, the Tánaiste said he "thought she was Avril Lavigne at first because she had the skateboard and everything", and said that while he hadn't yet spoken to Gardaí about the incident he expected to in the future.
Now the Fine Gael leader has provided a 'detailed statement' to police, according to The Times.
The outlet reports that Gardaí are focusing their investigation on "young women who have attended left-wing political protests in Dublin, or who might be living alternative lifestyles".
The new details come as Mr Varadkar faces a motion of no-confidence in the Dáil this week after it was found he had leaked a confidential draft document for GPs to a personal friend in April 2019, while he was serving as Taoiseach.
The no confidence vote was put forward by opposition party Sinn Féin, with leader Mary Lou McDonald stating the confidence motion is "a very serious act".
She told RTÉ Radio One the current government is "an administration marked by controversy and incompetence".
"Leo Varadkar, by his own admission, leaked confidential information to a friend of his while he was Taoiseach.
“So as the Opposition, the only sanction available to us is to table a no confidence motion.”
