Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust posts moving message on fifth anniversary of his passing

THE CHARITY the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust has posted a moving message on the fifth anniversary of the passing of the young man the charity was named for.

Kevin Bell, 26, from Newry in Co. Down died in a suspected hit-and-run while on holiday in New York in 2013.

After almost £150,000 was raised to bring him home, his parents Colin and Eithne used to rest to help other families in similar situations.

They then started the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust to alleviate the financial hardship of bereaved families repatriating the bodies of loved ones who have died abroad back to Ireland.

Today, on the fifth anniversary of Kevin’s passing, they posted a moving message, which also highlighted the amazing work the charity does.

Taking to social media, the charity posted: “We keep Kevin, the Bell Family, their friends and loved ones in our prayers today, 16th June, on the 5th Anniversary of his untimely passing.

“We also keep the families, friends and loved ones of all our repatriated in our thoughts today.

“Total repatriations to date: 521. Total repatriations 2018: 93. Such a legacy!”

The organisation helped repatriate seven people in 2013 after its foundation.

With 93 repatriations already this year, it shows just how vital their work is.

Followers were quick to praise the work of the charity, which has returned loved ones to every county on the island of Ireland.
