“Keep having fun, be careful won't you?”

Emma’s children were joined at the funeral by her husband Cian, parents Philip and Denise, her brother Timmy and sister-in-law, Hilary.

Recalling a life during which she said she was surrounded by a loving family and friends and never felt lonely, her piece added: “I have no regrets, only that I have to leave right now.”

Hannigan was laid to rest at Shanganagh Cemetery, Shankill.

The author revealed less than three weeks ago that she didn’t have long to live after battling cancer 10 times.

Following an outpouring of support after she revealed her news, Hannigan encouraged wellwishers to donate to breast cancer Ireland.

Her appeal has so far raised over €125,000.
