“Anybody with any information however peripheral should contact Gardai without delay.
“These ruthless criminals will be brought to Justice.”
In the first incident, a 34-year-old man received an injury to his leg following a shooting in Shangan Green at 4.10pm.
He was rushed to the Mater Hospital where his injuries were described as non-life threatening.
At 5pm shots were fired at a house in Belclare View in Ballymun, around 2km from the scene of the first incident.
Damage was caused to the windows of the house but no one was injured.
Two people were seen leaving the scene on a motorcycle.
'Area full of children'
Local politicians condemned the shootings, with Dublin North West TD Noel Rock saying they were an “all too regular occurrence”.
“A shooting like this, in broad daylight, in residential areas like Shangan Green and Belclare View which is full of children, is something which would strike fear into the heart of any parent,” said the Fine Gael TD.
“My thoughts are with the victims. I hope to see justice done here and those responsible for this put behind bars.”
Meanwhile Fianna Fáil Councillor Paul McAuliffe said locals were determined not to let a minority damage the “great community spirit in the area”.
Tonight's double shooting in Ballymun is indicative of a small minority and should not take away from the great community spirit in the area. The community has warned Snr. Gardai about the recent increase in open drug dealing, they must continue to direct resources to the area. pic.twitter.com/tsyTNQnT86

2 shootings in Ballymun. Wish these people would stop and think and leave our community alone. Fed up of it now. Something needs to give. Most people just want to live in peace.
