US PRESIDENTIAL hopeful Joe Biden has quoted one of Ireland's most prominent poets in his newest campaign video.
Democratic candidate Biden, whose roots stem back to Ireland, has often spoken of his love for his ancestral home, and has quoted poet Seamus Heaney on multiple occasions.
With just under a week to go until America goes to the polls to vote between Joe Biden and Donald Trump for the US presidency, both candidates have been gearing up their campaigns.
Yesterday, Biden released a new campaign video set to the lyrics of Seamus Heaney's solemn but hopeful poem The Cure At Troy.
Black-and-white clips depicting the Coronavirus crisis, the Black Lives Matter protests and the wildfires which have ravaged parts of the country in recent months each made an appearance in the new video, while Biden reads out a section of the famous poem.
The former Vice President posted the hard-hitting video to Twitter, alongside the caption:

The poem in question, The Cure At Troy, is a poetic adaption of the ancient Greek play Philocletes which tells of the last days of the Trojan War.
Heaney passed away in 2013, but his legacy prevails-- through legions of literary fans, generations of Irish schoolchildren who have studied his work, and now through the campaign trail of Joe Biden.
The US Election will take place four days from now, Tuesday 3 November.
