IRISH AMERICAN presidential candidate Joe Biden has compared Donald Trump to infamous Nazi propagandist Joseph Goebbels.
The Democrat candidate made the remarks during an interview with MSNBC, broadcast ahead of the first televised debate, due to take place in Cleveland, Ohio, this coming Tuesday.
Ahead of the debate, the former US Vice President said he is expecting Trump to revert to “personal attack sand lies” during the televised encounter.
“It is going to be difficult. My guess is, it’s just going to be a straight attack. They’re going to be mostly personal. That’s the only thing he (Trump) knows how to do,"” Biden said.
“He doesn’t know how to debate the facts. He’s not that smart.
“He doesn’t know much about foreign policy, he doesn’t know much about domestic policy. He doesn’t know much about the detail.”
Speaking ahead of the first of three head-to-head contests, Biden had a warning for the President.
“I think the American people are on to him”.
“People know the President’s a liar,” Biden continued.
“He’s sort of like [Joseph] Goebbels. You say the lie long enough, keep repeating it, repeating it, repeating it, it becomes common knowledge.
“It’s not like it’s going to come as a surprise. And so I’m prepared to go out and make my case as to why I think he’s failed and why I think the answers I have to proceed will help the American people and the American economy, and make us safer internationally.”
Goebbels served as chief propagandist in Adolf Hitler’s Third Reich.
He famously lived by the propagandistic mantra of the “big lie” explaining the concept as: “If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it”.
