FOOTBALLER James McClean has once again proved his community back home in Derry is never far from his heart.
The Republic of Ireland midfielder has donated £1,000 to the family of Ronan McGavigan, the two-year-old who was tragically knocked down and killed in Derry last Sunday.
The news has devastated the Derry community, with locals rallying to help the family afford the funeral costs by setting up a JustGiving fundraising page.
One of the first to donate was McClean and his wife Erin, who met the £1,000 target in one swoop, while others have since helped the total figure rise to almost £4,000.

The toddler, who was buried on Wednesday at Derry City Cemetery following the funeral at St Columba's Church, was said to be chasing a ball onto the road when the accident occurred.
