Ivanka Trump’s painful exchange with world leaders at G20 summit goes viral

IVANKA TRUMP has gone viral after trying - and failing - to converse with politicians at the G20 summit in Osaka.

Donald Trump has courted criticism for installing the ‘first daughter’ in an advisory role that has seen her present for a string of major world summits.

It was the same at G20, with Ivanka present and correct at G20 alongside her husband and special senior adviser Jared Kushner.

However, a clip released by the French Government suggests her attempts at diplomacy fell a little flat with some of the world leaders in attendance.

In the footage released online, Trump’s daughter can be seen attempting to converse with UK Prime Minister Theresa May, French president Emmanuel Macron, and Canadian PM Justin Trudeau.

Ivanka’s input doesn't go down too well though, with International Monetary Fund director Christine Lagarde’s reaction saying more than any words ever could.

Macron can be heard discussing “social justice” in the clip.

Ivanka Trump tries to interject, stating either "it's on," or "it's all."

May then tells Macron: "As soon as you start talking about the economic aspect a lot of people start listening who wouldn't otherwise listen."

"Start listening," Trump says..

"And same with the defence side, I think, in terms of the whole sort of..." she says before trailing off, before chiming back in with the words "being very male-dominated."

Trump’s comments aren’t exactly well received, with Lagarde and Trudeau spotted exchanging a look that has sent Twitter into overdrive with some branding it “humiliating” to America

New York congresswoman Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez is among those to comment on the exchange, using it as an example of exactly why she feels the first daughter has no place at G20 or any other summit.

"It may be shocking to some, but being someone’s daughter actually isn’t a career qualification,” she tweeted.

"It hurts our diplomatic standing when the President phones it in & the world moves on.

"The US needs our President working the G20. Bringing a qualified diplomat couldn’t hurt either."

The awkward exchange doesn’t appear to have affected President Trump’s decision to keep Ivanka close at hand – she was in attendance once again when the POTUS made history by crossing through the peninsula's Demilitarised Zone and into North Korea.
