A 40-year-old Irishman missing for almost three months has been found safe and well in a hospital in Britain.
Ronnie Maloney disappeared without a trace from his home in Castlebar, Co. Mayo on February 6.
Despite a number of local searches being made over an 11-week period, no trace of Mr Maloney was found.
But a breakthrough came this week when an alert nurse at a hospital in Bristol searched the name of one of her patients on Google.
The nurse discovered that Mr Maloney was on a missing persons list in Ireland.
An appeal to trace the missing Mr Maloney had been made on this week’s CrimeCall programme on RTÉ.
Castlebar-based Superintendent Joe McKenna confirmed in a statement that Mr Maloney had been found safe and well.
“I want to thank members of the public from all over Ireland who rang in what they were believed to be sightings of Ronnie in recent weeks,” he said.
