AN IRISHMAN has died after a road collision near Newport in South Wales.
The 56-year-old died in a two car collision on the M4, which left 18km of tailbacks from Newport to Cardiff.
Two lanes on the motorway were closed following the collision at but they reopened yesterday afternoon.
A second Irishman, aged 29, was injured in the accident but his injuries are not described as life threatening.
Gwent Police confirmed that the man, from the Republic of Ireland, died at the scene.
A 45-year-old man from Merthyr Tydfil has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
