A MINIATURE bottle of old Irish Whisky was sold under the hammer for £100 today at an auction in Glasgow for some of the world’s most rarest whiskies.
The Dunville’s V.R distilled and matured bottle of whiskey - originating in 1808 from Belfast - sold for more than its estimated price range of £40-60 at the McTear’s Auctioneers house.
At 50ml, the miniature bottle holds just over one shot of whiskey.
Whiskey collectors from as far as the United States, China and Australia participated in the auction where 500 bottles of whisky, wine and port were on offer.
The most surprising result was the Brorageddon - a 30-year-old molt cask - which was sold considerably over its estimated price range of £80-£120 at a staggering £800.
This single Highland malt whisky was distilled in March 1972 and bottled in 2003.
The most expensive item sold was Port Ellen, a 12-year-old single Isaly malt Scotch whisky. It was bottled in commemoration of Queen Elizabeth II’s visit to Port Ellen Maltings on August 9 1980.
It was auctioned at £4,800, sitting comfortably within its estimated price range of £4,500 - £5,000.
