Irish TV launch delivers early Christmas for Mancunians

CHRISTMAS comes early in Manchester this month when the city’s Irish TV base is officially launched with a special live show.

Irish celebrities and leading entertainers from around the city will be guests for the two hour programme Christmas in Manchester, which will broadcast live from the Irish World Heritage Centre on Thursday, December 11.

Irish TV reporter Martin Logan, who presents the channel’s weekly Out and About in Manchester programme, told The Irish Post: “We are constantly pushing out the broadcasting boundaries here at Irish TV and I think people will be really impressed with what they see on their TV screen on December 11.”

He added: “This is an historic first for Irish TV in Manchester and it just shows what can be achieved when people work together.”

Among those signed up to attend are country music sensation Lisa McHugh, Legendary Manchester United footballer Paddy Crerand, Philanthropist and author Joe Kennedy and Irish Post columnist Joe Giltrap.

Elsewhere on the show – which runs from 8-10pm, community leaders Michael Forde and Brian Kennedy will feature, as will Manchester City Councillors John Flanagan and Pat Karney.

Extra entertainment will be provided by the Louise Keegan School of Dance and the highly regarded Reel Deel Dance Troupe on the night.

“I am so proud to be part of Irish TV in Manchester,” said Logan.

“The channel was established to bring the global Irish community closer together and to tell the positive local stories from every Irish community no matter where they are located.”

He added: “The reaction from the viewers in Manchester and across the UK has being phenomenal and we hope that everyone will continue to support us as we develop and grow in 2015.”

Irish TV’s live Christmas in Manchester broadcast will be shown on SKY 191 from 8-10pm on December 11.  The show can also be viewed on Freesat 400 and online at www.irishtv.ie
