THE An Post challenge has struck yet again.
First, a postman in Co. Donegal successfully delivered a letter addressed to “that boy with the glasses”.
Then just before Christmas, a postie in Co. Galway somehow delivered post to “ya know yer wan whose mother’s from Castleblakeney.”
Now – as if Irish postmen hadn’t suffered enough – a postie in Co. Waterford has been put through an ordeal involving yet another vague “address”.
The Ray D'Arcy Show on RTÉ's Radio One received an email on Tuesday from Petra Kindler in Waterford.
She got in touch with the show to explain that her friend in Germany had tried to send her a letter without knowing her exact address.
The “address” on the letter reads:
Petra Kindler and Donal Moore,
Unfortunately I forgot the street name but it's near a street named Cul de Sac,
The beautiful city of Waterford,
Well known for its kindly postmen,
Ireland.
The 'kindly postmen' of Ireland came through and got Petra’s letter to her in a timely fashion, but was it ever in doubt?
Hats off to the men and women of An Post's postal service once again.
