TAOISEACH Leo Varadkar has come under fire for wearing an expensive ski jacket while meeting some of the people worst hit by Storm Emma.
The Irish PM wore the estimated €700 Moncler coat in Wexford on Sunday, days after the country was battered with snow.
Taking to Facebook this week, People Before Profit TD Brid Smith hit out at Mr Varadkar after posting an image of him wearing the pricey garment.
She wrote: "Here's something to think about when you get your heating bill for the last week.
"Leo's jacket here. It's a Moncler. On their website and in Brown Thomas, a Moncler jacket will set you back €600 to €700. That's a lot of briquettes!
"One Winter for the rich, another for the poor."
Some eagle-eyed social media users thought they recognised the exact item and estimated it cost €900.
The Taoiseach had shared a picture of him wearing the jacket on his Twitter account on Sunday, with the caption: “I’ve come to Wexford this afternoon to get an update on the response operation.

"Wexford is one of the worst hit areas in the country, and access to some areas remains very challenging.
"Response agencies are in crisis management mode here at the local coordination centre.”
Many farms & businesses have been hit badly by this storm. Minister @michaeldarcy took me to visit O’Connors outside Gorey, where large glass houses are destroyed. Buildings may be insured, but it’s much harder to account for the stress & lost business. pic.twitter.com/SIjy8vd5mz
