Irish painter Cormac O’Leary puts on solo show in London

Celebrated Irish artist Cormac O’Leary returns with a solo exhibition entitled Lightenings.

The series of works, influenced by the time he spent in Barcelona where his sister lives, will be on display in Irish-owned The Barbara Stanley Gallery until April 30.

Born in Cork City in 1969, O’Leary studied fine art at Sligo RTC from 1987 to 1991. Art was in his blood, with his father John well-known as a charismatic fine art teacher and as a painter who chose never to sell his work commercially.

Winner of the 2012 Leitrim County Council Artist’s Bursary Award, 2000 Milliken Bros. Art Materials Award and 2001 Iontas Painting Award, O’Leary is a distinguished painter.

His work is in public collections owned by AIB and Hawkswell Theatre as well as private collections in Britain, Portugal and the US. This will be his second solo exhibition at the gallery following two joint exhibitions with Philip Lindey.

Visitors to the exhibition can expect to see the same medium of oil on board used regularly by O’Leary, but for very different subject matters. For those hoping to purchase a piece, guide prices are £870-£1860.
