IRISH Olympian Jack Woolley has described how he was injured by a gang who were “violently attacking” people in Dublin.
Woolley, 22, who represented Ireland in Taekwondo at Tokyo 2020, posted pictures of his injuries on Instagram.
The images show Woolley drenched in blood and being attended by a paramedic, while another shows him in hospital.
The incident reportedly happened at around 12.40am in the early hours of this morning.

Describing on Instagram what happened, Woolley said he had been for a meal and a few drinks before heading back across the River Liffey.
He said a gang of around eight to 12 men and women aged in their 20s "began violently attacking people”.
“Unfortunately I was victim to these random attacks as I was just walking by before I was punched in the face by one of these group members,” he wrote.
“Only one punch, followed by ‘my mistake wrong person’, then they continued to run off down the road attacking more civilians minding their own business.”
Woolley added that he was able to stay conscious and ring an ambulance, before going to St James’s Hospital where he is awaiting mouth surgery.
Gardaí say they attended the scene of an assault on Grattan Bridge and a man in his 20s was taken to hospital.
They said no arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing.
Members of Ireland’s Olympic team offered their support to Woolley, including Tokyo 2020 Gold medallist Kellie Harrington.
“Oh my god, I’m so angry reading this, I am absolutely heartbroken for you,” she wrote.
“I am so, so saddened for you. Jeez, if I could give you the biggest hug right now I would.”
