Irish man dies following two-car collision in Limerick

AN IRISHMAN has died and another has been injured following a car crash in Co. Limerick.

Gardaí said the incident occurred around 7.30pm last night on the N21 outside Croagh.

A man in his 40s was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other man involved in the collision, whose age hasn't been confirmed, was taken to University Hospital Limerick (UHL), but it's believed his injuries aren't life-threatening.

A post mortem will now be carried out on the body of the man who died, at UHL.

Forensic analysts closed off the scene of the collision last night to conduct an investigation. The road remains closed this morning, with local diversions set up.

Meanwhile gardai are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the crash to come forward with information.

They're also calling for road users who may have camera footage and were travelling through the area between 7.30pm and 8pm to contact Newcastle West Garda Station on 069 20650 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
