SOMEONE IN Ireland is smugly quitting their job today-- if they have finally stopped jumping up and down and screaming.
One lucky person the Irish Republic experienced a dream become reality yesterday evening, with someone in the country scooping the National Lottery jackpot: a breath-taking €11 million euro.
The winning ticket managed to clinch every single number: 10, 13, 23, 24, 25, and 44, along with bonus number 12.
The country-wide competition had been rolling over since the start of June and is the 15th-biggest amount to ever be given out in the game’s history.
But the overall winner wasn’t the only person to walk away happy yesterday-- over 103,000 players won prizes in the draw, though it’s unlikely the amount even comes close to the €11,225,280 jackpot.
It’s so far unknown where in the country the winning ticket was sold, and it remains to be seen whether the lucky ticketholder will make themselves public or keep a low profile.
One of the most high-profile Irish lottery winners ever was Limerick woman Dolores McNamara, who won an incredible €115 million in 2005—but the media spotlight meant she was left vulnerable and her mansion was gutted by thieves, leaving many people to admit in everyday ‘what if’ conversations that they would likely remain anonymous.
The National Lottery has created 13 new millionaires in Ireland so far this year.
