Irish Liverpool fan pours heart out to takeaway after 5-0 defeat to Manchester City

IT'S never good seeing your side lose, but Liverpool fans were suffering more than most this weekend.

Jurgen Klopp’s men saw their unbeaten start to the season end in spectacular fashion as they lost 5-0 at Manchester City.

The Reds also had Sadio Mane sent off against their north-west neighbours, as City put five past the visitors for the first time in 80 years.

But where other supporters would have drowned their sorrows or vented their spleen on football messageboards, one fan in Ireland turned to his local chip shop for solace.

The Belfast football fan sent in his order to Feeley’s Fish & Chip Shop for a doner kebab with a note requesting plenty of garlic.

All fairly standard, except he went on to add the reason for the late-night nourishment.

“Proper raging because Liverpool got bate 5-0,” he wrote. “All I need now is a kebab on chips with garlic, the only thing in life that would make me happier.”

The takeaway duly obliged, but even they were sceptical as to their food’s ability to help ease the memory of a 5-0 drubbing.

“Unfortunately extra garlic on a kebab’s not gonna sort that issue out,” they wrote on Facebook as they posted a picture of the order, “however it will temporarily ease the pain.”

It’s not the first time the Belfast eatery has been called upon to help someone in their hour of need.

Last year a sickly woman placed an order for delivery just so the driver could pick up some medicine en route – and Feeley’s duly obliged.

Meanwhile in February a Mayo takeaway came to the rescue of a 'downtrodden husband' who feared for his life after forgetting to order his wife's chips.

However we think it'll take more than a garlic kebab and chips for Liverpool fans to get over their side's heavy defeat to City.
