Irish granny, 81, found dead in church car park during snowstorm named locally

AN elderly woman whose remains were found in the car park of a church in Co. Louth yesterday morning has now been named locally.

Anne King, 81, from Rock Road, Blackrock, was pronounced dead at the scene of the local St Oliver Plunkett Church in the town at around 7.20am.

The church is part of the parish of Haggardstown & Blackrock and is across the road from the waters of the Irish Sea.

Weather conditions were poor at the time and Mrs King's death is not being treated as suspicious.

Gardaí have obtained CCTV footage shows the mother-of-four slipping on ice or frost and banging her head on the ground.

Her body was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, where a post-mortem was due to take place today.

Mrs King is survived by her husband Frank, children Paul, David, John and Gerald, granddaughter Mia and daughter-in-law Ava.

She was predeceased by her parents Jack and Mary, sisters Maisie, Sr Angela, Sr Eileen, Frances McDonnell and brother Dessie.

Funeral arrangements will be made at a later date.
