Irish farmer airlifted to hospital after being dragged by bull in west of Ireland

A FARMER in the west of Ireland was airlifted to hospital after he was injured in an incident involving a bull.

The accident occurred on a farm at Corracoggil, Loughglynn near Castlerea in rural Co. Roscommon at 3:30pm on Sunday afternoon.

The man was injured after he went out into the field where the bull was situated with his dog.

His arm got caught in a rope or chain attached to the bull and he was subsequently dragged along the ground by the animal.

The farmer’s wrist was broken in the incident and emergency services arrived on scene shortly before 4pm.

The man, who is understood to be in his 30s, was airlifted from the farm to University Hospital Galway with serious injuries.

Both An Garda Siochana and the Health and Safety Authority of Ireland (HSA) are aware of the incident. The HSA is currently looking into the incident.
