Irish family wins lottery for second time in ten years

A FAMILY has won the Irish Lotto for the second time in a decade.

A 23-year-old has claimed the €250,000 prize in this week's Lotto Plus 2 draw, ten years after his mother won the same prize.

The winning ticket for Wednesday's Lotto draw was bought at Wallace’s Costcutter in Wellingtonbridge, Wexford.

The lucky winner collected his prize in Lottery HQ today, having accompanied his mother to collect her prize in the same room a decade earlier.

Speaking on the win, he said: "I am in a different position to my Mam as when she won she had her house, my dad had a good job and her family were fairly established. I am engaged and starting out on life and this will be a huge help in helping me and my fiancé get set up," he said.

“We don’t have a wedding date set but I think this will hurry things along," he said, with his fiancé by his side.

“But we won’t do anything in a hurry. I am going to get some good financial advice. We don’t have a house so we may put some money towards a deposit and I might invest some.  Meanwhile, we are leaving here to do a bit of shopping!”

Saturday’s Lotto draw is worth a mega €3.5 million, so if you’re feeling lucky, you know what to day.
