Irish drug lords move into Liverpool to forge links with crime gangs

IRISH drug barons have taken up residence in Liverpool to orchestrate major drug shipments across Europe according to Merseyside Police Force.

A number of Dublin’s most dangerous criminals have relocated to the British city, where they are working with criminal gangs existing around Merseyside, officers revealed this week.

“Intelligence has come in that indicates that these criminals, who are primarily from north Dublin, have linked up with local crime gangs and are working together with them to bring in drugs from Spain where other Irish criminals are based,” a senior police officer said.

Intelligence is being shared between the Gardai and the National Crime Agency over concerns the criminals in Dublin have teamed up with organised gangs in Merseyside to import Class A drugs from Spain.

Senior Dublin gangland figures are thought to be among them, including a ‘major league’ criminal, who splits his time between Liverpool and Ireland, who is one of the main targets of Operation Majesty - an international police investigation targeting the trade in drugs and firearms across Europe.

Links between Liverpool and Ireland’s drugs fraternity stretch back over twenty years.

Some of the city’s biggest criminal names are known to be closely associated with Irish counterparts.
